Healthy tears are critical for maintaining the front surface of the eye and for providing clear vision1,2

Healthy eyes are lubricated with an even layer of tears that serves as a protective film, called the tear film, to help to protect the cornea, which is the front surface of the eye. A healthy tear film consists of the right mix of oils, water, proteins, and mucus. Healthy tears and a healthy tear film are critical for support of the surface of the eye.

UNDERSTANDING THE IMPORTANCE OF OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS

Are your eyes getting the omega-3 fatty acids they need?

Dietary modifications with omega-3 fatty acids should be part of the first step for healthy tear support.

Most Americans don’t get enough omega-3 fatty acids, according to a study of the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2003–20083

Pristene® is a natural, non-GMO, certified vegan, gluten-free eye health supplement for healthy tear support and eye comfort.

Omega-3 fatty acids help support the eye’s tear film, by supporting the small glands on the edge of the eyelid, called the meibomian glands which help make the oil for the tear film.

Omega-3s are needed for healthy tears and optimal eye health, and also for exceptional overall health. Omega-3s are not produced by our body and must be obtained by diet or supplementation.

Product & Ingredients

Pristene® is a physician formulated supplement based on clinical studies for healthy tear support. It is made with vegan & natural ingredients clinically proven to show improvement in healthy tear production. Pristene is Certified Vegan, non-GMO, and gluten free. It contains significantly more Omega-3 fatty acids than most dry eye supplements on the market. It also contains maquiberry, which is an antioxidant shown to support healthy tear production.
Pristene® is made with carefully chosen vegan ingredients that are clinically proven to show improvement in healthy tear production. The ingredients in Pristene® are shown to restore and increase tear fluid production and help produce healthier tears.
Everyone’s physiology is unique and results vary from person to person. You may notice a change in your eye comfort immediately or it may take more time.
No. Pristene® does not treat or cure any eye condition and is only meant for support of healthy tear production and eye comfort.
The algal oil used in Pristene® is a highly potent, natural, vegan source of the Omega 3 essential fatty acids, EPA and DHA. Because it is made from algae and not from fish oil, you should not experience the fishy burps that are common with fish oil. Algal oil is more sustainable for the world’s fish populations than fish oil. Algal oil is also free of many common contaminants that are found in fish oil, such as mercury, dioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and peroxides.
Omega 3s (also known as omega-3 fatty acids) are essential fatty acids that have been shown to play an important role in helping produce healthier tears. Omega-3 fatty acids are not produced by our bodies so we must obtain them through our diet or supplementation.
Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are two types of omega 3 fatty acids. These are not produced by our bodies so we must obtain them through our diet or supplementation. EPA and DHA have been shown to help produce healthier tears.
ALA is an omega-3 fatty acid that converts into EPA and DHA at a very low rate. GLA is an omega 6 fatty acid. Omega 6 fatty acids can often be proinflammatory, and the average american diet contains enough omega-6 so it is not necessary to consume more of this within a supplement.
Maquiberry is a natural berry high in antioxidants. This ingredient has been shown to help support healthy tear production.
The American Dietetic Association and Dietitians of Canada recommend that pregnant and lactating women (along with all adults) consume at least 500 milligrams (mg) of omega-3s, including EPA and DHA, daily. We recommend that women who are pregnant or nursing speak with their doctor to determine the amount of Pristene® that is right for them.
The Vitamin E in Pristene® contains highly refined soybean oil, which contains no traceable allergens. If you have a soy allergy, please speak with your doctor to determine if Pristene® is right for you.
Pristene® does not contain any allergens from the 8 major foods or food groups identified by the US Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (FALCPA). These ingredients include milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.
Pristene® is manufactured in California in a cGMP certified facility.
